More Information on Ford Theatres Foster Youth Initiative Oral History Archive
The Ford Theatres is a 1,200-seat outdoor amphitheatre owned by the County of Los Angeles, situated in Hollywood, CA. For nearly 100 years, artists and audiences have come to the Ford Theatres to experience powerful moments in an intimate setting. From the early days of The Pilgrimage Play to performances by some of the world’s most beloved artists to free participatory arts programs, the Ford Theatres has left an indelible mark on Los Angeles’ cultural history. One of the core tenants of the Ford Theatres is the belief that the arts are a vital component of a healthy, thriving and inclusive community. In 2019, the Ford Theatres Foster Youth Initiative addressed the needs of Los Angeles' foster youth - from young children to young adults - and their families by providing access to arts events, participatory arts experiences, job and internship opportunities, and more. The Ford Theatres Foster Youth Initiative Oral History Archive provides a safe platform for members of Los Angeles’ foster community to share stories, hopes and dreams, and to leave a legacy of inspiration for future generations.
