The Arts Street at YEA Journey to Unity project, created by high school-aged youth in the summer of 2018, explores the potential to change negative opinions and strengthen positive perceptions about immigration. Partnering with Birdseed Collective in Globeville and Denver Housing Authority, Arts Street youth used creative vehicles such as storytelling in podcasts, community service and art projects to document a variety of immigration and life stories. By using the StoryCorp app to interview an inter-generational group from the community, this Journey to Unity podcast hopes to promote empathy and understanding for those who have little or no voice in the overall immigration discussion in America.
To hear the audio-edited, podcast versions of many of these interviews, Visit the Journey 2 Unity: Breaking the Silence of the Unheard Community on Archive.Storycorps.org/Communities.
