Description

How does an entrepreneurial kid make money from video games in the 80s? From Pac-Man to Galaga to Mario Bros, Camilo Echavarria tells his stories of playing video games in the 80s in an interview conducted by his son Gabe Echavarria. Gabe conducted this interview because he has always enjoyed video games and seen a lot of 80s life in movies and TV and wanted to learn more about what it was like for real kids in the 1980s to play them. This interview was conducted in Glendale, California on November 30th. This interview does more than show what games were like in the 80s, but it really accentuates the difference between just life then compared to now. At around the 5-minute mark Camilo talks about how his mother left him and his brother and made them walk home because they wouldn’t get off their game. This would not be considered ok today but back then it was.
