All his life, he has been front and center in this community.

After 16 years in office as Town Supervisor, Greg Helsmoortel has decided to slow down and retire. As a community-oriented leader, his goal has always been to push the town forward with strong leadership and good communication.

With successful real estate and restaurant businesses among many of his accomplishments, Greg is most proud of his part in reviving the Saugerties Dutchman, an adult amateur baseball team. The team won the title in its first season and drew 2000 people to their games at Cantine Field.

As Greg approaches retirement, he is looking forward to quiet moments in his garden.
