Description

In this interview, conducted virtually via zoom on November 15, 2021, 22 year old student Ally Shatter interviews her mother, almost 60 year old Jeanne Shatter about what it was like for her growing up as a little girl back when times were different than what they are now. The interview is conducted via zoom with Ally at her home in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Jeanne at hers in Westland, Michigan. Jeanne was raised in a small house in Taylor, Michigan with her three sisters and two brothers, and she was the oldest sibling. They did not have a lot of money growing up, which influenced the way she acted as a little girl, as well as the goals she set for herself growing up as a woman. She talks about toys she used to play with, games she was encouraged to play, and ways she was expected to act as a little girl. She also talks about how she has been treated as an older woman, and how she feels society treats older women now.
