AM asks NH about his interest in neurology and movement disorders. NH shares that he had a longstanding interest in the brain and how central it is to human health.
AM asks NH what it takes to build relationships with patients. NH shares that early in his career he was reserved with patients, but now he has seen the importance of building relationships with patients to foster a good environment for patients.
NH shares the progression of treatment for PD and his clinical practice. AM asks if there were any generational shifts with patients, and NH shares that he thinks there has been a shift, but that was prompted by an increase in access to information.
AM asks NH about the expanding information and resources for PD. NH speaks on the importance of social connection when it comes to PD patients. NH speaks about how isolation negatively impacts PD patients.
NH shares that his dream for the future is for there to be an end to PD. He says that can be done through preventative neurology and care to catch PD early, recognize symptoms early, especially those that are non-motor related. AM quotes a colleague that says, "until there is a cure, there is community"
