Anne Smith says she was born in 1946, in the small town of Waycross, Georgia. She says her dad worked for Atlantic Coastline Railroad. She remembers her dad traveling to places like Chicago for work.

Anne says she did not like moving around. She says it was hard to make friends. Anne says she was shy like her mother.
Anne remembers having to wear dresses or skirts until she started college. She remembers Villager dresses being in style and says her mother could make them.
Anne says her mother wore heels and a hat out in public.
Anne says she was not aware of the greater world. She remembers her parents watching the news on tv.
