Mentor Elia Moreno (50) and her mentee April Garcia (39) remember the first time they met, share how they continue to motivate and love one another, and talk about the ways in which they are able to spread hope and compassion through the work they do at Living Intentionally Ministries.

EM talks about the first time she met AG. EM remembers the event they met at and shares that the people at her table were talking about their struggles. EM remembers there was a woman at the table who was struggling with purchasing diapers for her child and when AG won a gift card she gave it to the woman who could not afford diapers even though she was struggling as well.
EM: "The only true way to be human is to do what we do with love." EM talks about the way AG changed her life. AG talks about how she has never been acknowledged and that's why she treats people the way she does because she knows what it feels like.
EM talks about how every person struggles with different types of poverty. EM to AG: "You love the way you wish people loved you."
EM talks about recognizing that we all have different lived experiences and if we're able to see that we would have more kindness and empathy.
AG talks about her children and how they have been inspired by her work.
AG talks about growing up in a family that was not affectionate and wanting to raise her children differently. She talks about getting pregnant with her first child at 17.
EM and AG talk about a previously incarcerated young man who came to their organization to print out a piece of paper and remember the hope and happiness in his eyes.
EM talks about loving people, especially those who are broken just like her.
AG remembers a conversation she had with her 16 year old daughter, Asia. She shares that her daughter tells her she looks happier and it looks good on her.
EM and AG talks about how they would like to be remembered.
