Description
Fiona Rogers chatted with mother and daughter Katherine and Elena Giacoletti during Scottish Sessions in the Cave. They discussed how Katherine first came to Pinewoods in college, Elena’s first time at camp as a three-month-old baby when her father had a Camp job, then coming again when her mother was on staff, and returning as a teenager before then joining Crew. They discussed efforts that The Board is making towards inclusivity, preservation of the rustic nature of Camp, bridging gaps between specific dance communities, and their visions for the future of Camp. Katherine touched on how her experience of Camp has changed now that she is a camper but also wearing the hat of President of the Board, and how her first 9 months in this role has caused her to deepen her connections to and understanding of Pinewoods. Elena discussed how her relationship to Camp has changed over 3 years being on Crew *(since 2023, not 2022 as stated in this recording), and her experiences investing in Highland Dance and the rewarding sensation of being able to share that with her community as a dancer now.Participants
