Martha Thompson (69) is interviewed by her friend Margarita Saona (50) about her career as one of the first female tenured professors at Washington and Jefferson College and her involvement in the women's liberation movement.

MT talks about how she became a college professor. She was completing her Master's at kent State in the 1970's and saw an ad to which she applied at she 23.
MT says among the 100 female students admitted only a handful of students of color. She talks about becoming the faculty advisor for the black students club.
MT talks about the experiences of being in an academic environment predominantly male when women had expected to serve tea and she was a professor.
MT talks about the privileges her male students had and how they were unquestioned. "They were still insulated."
