Description

My babcia (grandma) is 91 years old. While preparing stuffing for Thanksgiving the next day my mom asked Babcia about her experience first coming from Holland. My grandparents met there after being displaced from Poland during WWII. Babcia talks about her first experiences arriving in Halifax, Canada then travelling to Toronto, Canada. The quota for refugees had already been filled in the U.S. so they settled in Canada where my grandfather had an engineering job with Phillips waiting for him. Because the U.S. was their original goal they ended up in a suburb of Chicago, IL where she still lives today. We switch between Polish and English. Introductions are at the end.
