My grandpa was born in Nova Scotia moved to ashtabula Ohio, grew up there and didn't like school except college. He went to Europe instead of being drafted for the army, taught French even thought he was not very qualified. David met my grandma at a pub across from the all-boys preparatory school he taught at in London when he was 22. His father was a seaman on the Great Lakes, and David also got a job working on freighters going on all of those lakes. When I was little, he came to my rescue after a wave knocked me over!
