Excerpt: “Aw, you’re funny mom, you still are really funny.”
Recorded June 6, 2015
In an excerpt from a longer interview, Elizabeth Bell, a 32-year-old elementary school art teacher in Texas talks with her mother, Sara Bell, 65. Diagnosed years earlier with frontotemporal dementia, Sara has begun to lose the ability to express herself and Elizabeth has watched her mother’s personality change. Their conversation touches on her mother’s illness and Elizabeth’s dating life. Hoping to preserve her mother’s voice, Elizabeth made this recording in April 2015 in her parent’s Dallas area home.
