00:01 My name is Hannah DeJidas and I am interviewing Chris DeJidas my mom.
00:05 Hi.
00:08 Can you tell me the story of when you first saw me?
00:12 The story of when I first saw you was when? The day you were born. And I was probably in labor with you for three weeks, but it took you a while to come out. You came out a week late. And when you were finally put in my arms, it was the best moment of my life.
00:36 What was I like as a baby? As a child? Do you remember a time when I made you angry?
00:42 You were actually a very good baby. Wouldn't eat, so it always made me nervous. But we had a couple sleepless nights, but we got through it. And so you were a good baby, and you were a good little child. You were a little sassy at times, but that's. I like the. I like the spunk, so I'm good with that. And there was one time you made me very angry, and I tried to put you in timeout, and you kept fighting against me, and I ended up having to take you to the emergency room. Do we want more of that? Yes.
01:27 Yeah, exactly.
01:28 Holding your. I was holding you in place for timeout because I didn't want you to get out of the timeout spot. So I was holding you in place, and I gave you what is called nursemaid elbow. And it's when someone's holding someone's arms and they're trying to wiggle out of it, and it kind of dislocated your elbow, which was a very common thing, very common injury.
01:58 All right.
01:59 I wasn't a bad mom.
02:01 How has being a parent changed you? What were you most surprised by?
02:12 Hmm. Is it still recording? What most surprised me was, you know, everyone says they want to have kids because you think that's the next step, and we had a hard time having you. So you were definitely, definitely really wanted. But what surprised me is how much I really loved you. And it was. It was kind of overwhelming that you could feel that way about someone.
02:52 What were the hardest moments when I was growing up?
02:57 Probably the hardest moment is I was dreading the middle school years because I knew those are the toughest years, and I didn't want to see you get hurt or be in any kind of pain or be in a bad situation. But then I also did want you to have that so that it makes you a stronger person. So that was definitely one of the hardest parts, was watching you go through something that was difficult but necessary.
03:29 And lastly, if you could do everything again, would you raise me differently.
03:36 No. I don't know if that's a compliment to me or you, but, no, I think I would do everything exactly the same.
03:45 All right. Thank you for participating in the great Thanksgiving lesson.
03:48 Okay. Thank you.
