Donna Mehalak describes growing up in the heyday of boardinghouses and bungalows of West Saugerties. She discusses her family's trucking and trash hauling business, the one-room schoolhouse experience, forty years with the Girl Scouts and describes Saugerties village when she was a girl (spoiler alert: the sweet shop was her favorite haunt and birthdays were truly a celebration at the Orpheum Theatre).
