Gus Fimple (43) talks about meeting Anthony LaFauce (41) on the first day of boot camp in Illinois. He remembers it was winter.
Gus talks about his son, Anthony, noting that today (August 26, 2020) was supposed to be his first day of bootcamp. Gus says his son was killed 3 months ago.
Anthony remembers treating bootcamp like a joke. He says it got serious in A School (Accession Training) when he starting learning that people could die if he didn't do his job right.
Gus remembers thinking his job in the Navy would be like playing Nintendo. He says the reality was math and equations. He talks about critical thinking.
