Rosaly Lopes is a planetary geologist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. She discovered seventy-one new volcanoes on IO, for which she was recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records. She uses her research into the surface of other planets to better understand the earth’s surface. “Any surface process you study on other planets, you learn more about them on earth.” Rosaly incorporates science from different disciplines, which she thinks makes for better understanding. “The most interesting science comes from interdisciplinary research.” “Looking at other worlds opens our eyes.” So too does AGU. “AGU is a superb organization, which can influence the world. AGU is at the forefront of science and of society.” (Recorded 14 December 2018)
