Description

Ingrid Hendy, Professor at the University of Michigan and section president-elect, shares stories about discoveries in her field and the challenges she faced. She reflected on the curious zebra striped sediment that lured her into her field – mud she worked on for more than a decade, the climate change evidence she discovered in California, and her choice to stop the tenure clock to have children.

Originally from New Zealand, Hendy now teaches at the University of Michigan about extreme weather, is determined to help her students better navigate their careers, and translates the stories fish scales tell us about the ocean. (Recorded 12 December 2018)
