Kathy Sartori Hankard (50) talks with her dad, James “Jim” Anthony Sartori (86, almost 87). Dad shares stories of growing up outside of Chicago, and taking the bus into the city as a young boy (age 12) for a day of adventure with his younger brother. He speaks of the influence of his parents and high school friends, how a heart murmur kept him off the hs football team and out of the Korean War, trials and experiences as a small businessman in a small town, the joy of his family, his contentedness with how his life turned out (“better than I ever thought”), and his overarching philosophies: be kind to others, and accept people as they are.
