00:01 My name is John Kurtz. It's the 28th of October, 2024. I'm here with Matthew Kurtz and I'll be interviewing him on his work experience. How you doing, Matt?

00:10 I'm good.

00:11 How are you doing? Well. So can you tell me a little bit about what you've done for work so far?

00:19 So I got my first job when I was like 16 and a half. I think because I had a double knee injury, I had to get surgery on both my knees. So kind of put me out of like the work field. I always like, I wanted to get a job as soon as I turned 16. Just, you know, I mean, every 16 year old just wanted their own spending money. But my first job was at a trampoline park with some of my buddies, you know, obviously didn't get paid the best, but it was more of just kind of working together and we didn't really. It didn't really feel like you were doing anything when you were having fun. So, I mean, I was there for like two years, so I was. I was having a good time doing that.

01:00 Okay, so was that your only job so far or did you have multiple throughout from then to now?

01:05 So that was my. That was my first job. I was there for two years. I remember it was like one day over the summer, the night before, my friend threw a party, my work friend. So I went over there. I was out there like late at night and we all just woke up the next morning and we all got an email from the place and they like shut down unexpectedly. So we were all without a job. And then like a bigger, bigger corporation took it over a different trampoline park. I tried it. I absolutely hated it. So I quit there. But now I'm just working in like retail at like a local cvs.

01:39 Okay, what makes that job different from the other job? What makes it less enjoyable?

01:45 I guess the first one that I had, it was like, it was like a two man business. So they were a lot more like lenient like the other corporation. It's like the biggest trampoline park, you know? No, I worked at a Sky's Run and it was just, I don't know, the managers just kind of treated us differently just because we worked under a different name at first. So it was kind of like we already felt like we were at a disadvantage their whole. They were, they just did a lot of like, shady stuff that like, I didn't want to be a part of.

02:16 Okay, do you have any, like, funny stories from that work or anything?

02:21 Um, not too sure about, like, funny stories. Just because, like, it was. Doesn't sound like a dangerous job, but, like, obviously, there's, like, bound to be injuries. Probably the A story that I, like, laugh about now that I didn't at first was it was, like, my third shift. I just started by myself, and then this dude fell because he wasn't. He didn't have the proper equipment, like, everybody's required to have, like, these grip socks. He didn't have them on. And then he just completely, like, snapped his ankle. I mean, I was out there by myself. I was like. I was like, dude, this job is not for me. But I ended up sticking around, so.

03:02 Nice. Well, thank you very much. I appreciate you taking the time.

03:06 Yeah, of course.
