00:00 My name is Elena McGuire. I'm 16 years old and I'm with my grandfather, Dave Chittim

00:06 I'm 76 years old.

00:08 Grandpa, how did you and grandma meet?

00:11 We worked at the same office actually. She was executive secretary, but her, she sat right outside my boss's office. So I passed by her every day. And it took a while to work up the nerve to ask her out for a first date because first of all she was extremely good looking and a lot of the guys were chasing after her. But I finally did and I said, would you. I tried to get a kind of a combination of coolness and interest and stuff like that. I worked on it a lot of time and so finally kind of said, how would you like to go out to lunch? She said, no, I'm going out with my girlfriend, but I'm available tomorrow. So we had lunch and I will be. You know, it sounds like something out of a sofa, but I knew the first date that I was would like to have married her. Probably not that day, but yeah, so yeah it was. And because we worked at the same company and relationships between people who work for the same company are often frowned upon and they were in my company, we had to kind of sneak around. So we started dating just after her birthday. And so we would have lunch together. But what we would do is she would pack like a tablecloth and some silverware in her big purse and I would leave in a separate by separate device, go get some meat at the local deli and we'd meet down by the point and picnic lunch together, stuff like that.

02:09 So that's cute. I didn't know that.

02:12 Yes, our first date, our first real date was at Christopher's, which is now the Monterey Bay Fish Garda took her to, took her to a nice place to eat. It was a pretty upscale place. And if you're going to be going out with a charming and to use one of my grandfather's phrases, a good looking tomato. You want to go to some place like that? Well, one of the things we did for that first date was I ordered some escargot, which I like, I still like escargot. Your mother's never had it. So I said, I said, well, would you like to try one? And since her first real date with me, she says, okay. And so I put one in her mouth and I've been paying for that ever since.

03:10 And she had never get it again.

03:12 Never another snail again. So. So then we went out, we went out for a couple of dates and I wasn't sure whether she liked me or not, because she really didn't. She really didn't. I really didn't get. Get the message quite clearly. And so I had talked to her on the phone, and there again, I. When I went to pick her up for our first date, I was nervous about doing it, so I actually went out the day before to pass by her house, so I knew how to get there. Okay. And when I called her up to ask her for the first date, I was a little apprehensive about that. So I really worked on it. Unfortunately, I never really got to the point of asking her for a date until about 20 minutes into the conversation. So. Trying to fit it in. So that. That's the. That's the story. So anyways, we went about three dates, and I wasn't quite sure whether she liked me or not, so I didn't really call her for a couple of days. And so I was moving from Greentree to Shadyside, and she called me and she said, would you like a couple of girls to come help you move Kristen? So she did. The rest is history.

04:27 Aw.

04:28 Yeah.

04:28 So that's so sweet. I didn't know any of that.

04:30 Yeah. Yeah. I tell this day, you know. So anyway, that's. That's how we started going out together and stuff like that, so.

04:41 Aw. Well, thank you.

04:43 Welcome.

04:44 Thank you. And thank you for ending up marrying my grandmother.

04:48 Wouldn't have you without it.

04:50 Nope. Well, thank you.

04:53 Okay.
