My grandma and I were talking about her childhood experiences. She explains her first experience in the south. She was in the park and a white girl approached her and told her "move nigger" but my grandmother refused and hit her with the swing. They were chased by a Lynch mob and was forced to return back to New York City. She begins to explain that in NYC, it was no different than her first experience in the South. Cops used young black children as shooting practice. My grandma used to have to run from cops almost everyday as a child growing up in Harlem.
