Suzanne O'Connell has served multiple roles on her ten scientific ocean drilling expeditions, Here, she shares stories of the medical evacuations she witnessed from Glomar Challenger and JOIDES Resolution, from the ship having to return to port for additional medical supplies to watching a helicopter refuel in the air after landing on the JR. She also shares stories of the important role the medical doctor plays on scientific drilling vessels.
