Jason Spellman and Alexander Megaso discuss their religious upbringing. They reflect that though neither of them regularly attends regular services now, the core tenets of their faith made them who they are.
They continue to reflect upon how these tenets are not practiced by many who identify as religious. Jason has found "treat people who you want them to treat you" to be a great binder.
Alexander reflects that if people don't receive positive attention, they'll seek negative attention and how this is connected to addiction and dopamine hits. Jason and Alexander agree that it creating a scene is fast but it takes time and is harder work to build positive changes. Jason reflects upon how his father was a carpenter who identified as a craftsman; he took his time to do it right.
Jason shares his experiences living in Charlottesville and Richmond during protests. He witnessed instigations from younger rioters, members of the far right and the local police. For his mental and physical health, he has moved from the city to the country.
Alexander shares how he and his wife relocated to Jersey City, NJ to provide their young son an education more in alignment with their beliefs.
Jason doesn't believes things needed to change, violence wasn't the way to do that, but that it did help. He became involved with his experience as a student of the American Civil War and race relations. He shares discussions he had around what should be done with Confederate Monuments.
Jason and Alex discuss their hopes for the future. Alex shares that we need to recognize the value we all intrinsically have and work together. Jason focuses on instilling support for each other in our schools, children will carry this with them into society.
