Description

Jody (Edna Jo) LaFevers was raised in an old 2 story house with a big front porch in a small town on the Missouri border called Viola. Her mother would make all of her clothes, including her prom dress, so she had all of the latest styles. During the Summers off from school, Jody would sow her own clothes in preparation for the next school year. The place to hang out in her town at that time was the local Dairy Queen, which was owned by local citizens. In fact, that’s where Jody met her husband, Steve LaFevers, who she was married to for over 50 years until he, unfortunately, passed away. They traveled all over the country and went on cruises to Mexico, in which they had their 50th wedding anniversary. She has observed his kindness over the years and uses it as an inspirational lesson in her everyday life. Jody recalls certain events in America such as 9/11 and the first man to land on the moon. She also remembers the music that she would listen to as a child, her favorites being from Elvis Presley. Jody would have never imagined her being sick at when she was a teen, as recently before this interview she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She wants to be remembered for her education, a Masters in Nurse Practitioning, which she has worked with all over the country, including Anchorage, Alaska, and Fairbanks, Alaska. She is most grateful for her two kids, Mark and Holly LaFevers. Her advice to everybody and future descendants of her family is to never depend on anybody but yourself and to be the best you can be!
