AM asks JS to share about her multiple careers. JS started as a school teacher, worked in TV and radio, and the corporate world in public relations. When she moved to the central coast she started to write for the local newspaper and a biography on the founder of Bakersfield.
JS asks AM if her life has changed since moving from Minnesota to Arizona. AM shares that the move was prompted after her and her husband lost their parents and had very little family left.
AM and JS discuss political differences in their communities and how it impacts their relationships with friends and family.
AM asks JS if she has had difficult conversations in her community. JS shares that the biggest point of contention has been marine sanctuaries. JS describes the sanctuaries as a difficult hurdle for fisherman, but there needs to be an environmental balance.
JS and AM talk about the challenges in working in media. JS shares that at a point in time she was embarrassed to say she worked in media due to the lack to reputable sources and media literacy.
