In this interview, held on January 28th, 2021, over FaceTime, Liz Forsell (14) interviews her great aunt, Barbara Smith (78), and great uncle, Lou Smith (80). Lou starts by explaining the reality of growing up during World War II and the effects it had on him/his life. Barbara explains the rich traditions revolving around holidays and Lou gives his wisdom that he sees as the most important lessons he has learned in his life. Then Lou describes his progressive spirituality and Barbara illustrates some of the most important concepts/events in her life other than her children. Lou goes on to explain our family legacy, then both Lou and Barbara give their opinions on the most interesting person in their family. To finish the interview, Lou and Barbara explain their views on BLM, social justice, and racism in the US, explaining that we are one planet, one humanity, and one spirit.
