Anna Ciacciarella, Rachel Fink, and Maddie Parrish Discuss Preparing for Localization

Description

Anna, Rachel, and Maddie, SEAS students at the University of Michigan, discuss the concept of localization and the course's premise of energy descent and the coming transition. They also share details about their course project in which they developed "Your Guide to Living Local", a 22-page interactive how-to-guide that follows three major challenges associated with the transition over time: overconsumption, food production and food access, and community resilience. The guide details behaviors across a person's lifespan that an individual can work to change from an immediate, one to five years, and 10 or more years perspective and offers community resources and tools for making small behavior changes to embrace localization and prepare for the transition.
