MM’s mother pushed him to pick up music in order to keep him off the “bad element” in their Brooklyn neighborhood.
MM played in big bands all over the country during the 1940s. Among others,he played with Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald.
MM came to Fort Wayne after hearing about an open viola position in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He had recently lost his job.
MM always kept track of all his students. He loved teaching and for a period left the Philharmonic in order to teach.
The most influential person in MM’s life has been his mother.
KW admires MM and thanks him.
MM shares some of the gang activity and shootings he witnessed in his neighborhood.
