Jay D, Uhte (84) talks with his friend, Brent Zimmerman (46), about their friendship and what it was like to be a gay man in the 1950 and 1960s.

In 1995 BZ and his husband moved to the JU's neighborhood and across the street from him in 2000.
JU talks about meeting his husband in Santa Monica, CA and how they later bought the house on Sunny Dip Trail. At that time, in 1955, it was not easy for 2 men to buy a house. JU bought the house and once they were living in the house he put the property in both their names.
JU was born in Richmond, Indiana.
JU realized that he liked spending time with girls and dancing but had affection for boys when he was 13 years old.
JU enlisted in the Navy when he was 17. He talks about being gay in the Navy.
JU describes what it was like to got to bars and clubs in the 1960s and the raids from the police.
JU want to the first gay pride parade in the early 1970s.
BZ has been with his partner for 22 years and JU was with his partner for 50 years before he passed.
