Melissa Scruggs is currently working towards earning her PhD in Volcanology at UC Santa Barbara, and there's nothing else in the world she would rather be doing. But she didn't always know this- after dropping out of high school to raise her daughter, she worked full-time as a secretary in a lawyer's office while going to community college, and then transferred to university with plans to become an environmental lawyer. In this episode, we talk to Melissa about her unconventional career path, learning how to communicate, and her dreams of one day donning "the silver suit."
