MW describes her dad as a man who grew up in the sticks of Virginia and never missed a birthday card. A good-hearted man who would help you with whatever.
MW remembers living in shelters after having her first child.
LM's mother came from Puerto Rico and had over 50 years of marriage to her husband. She owned a successful business in Bedford Stuyvesant and was able to retire.
LM shares the grief and varying emotions she has struggled with after her mother was killed in Rockaway Beach.
LM thinks about the driver who killed her mother and wonders what has come of his life.
