00:01 Hello, my name is Macy. I'm 18 years old. Today is October 23rd, 2022. I'm speaking with my sister Logan and I'm recording this interview in Anna, Texas.

00:15 My name is Logan Boone I'm 31 years old. I'm speaking with my sister Macy, and we're in McKinney. Nope, we're in Anna, Texas.

00:29 When you were younger, you traveled a lot. Could you tell me a little bit about that?

00:33 Yeah, I got. I was very fortunate and I got to travel a lot. When I was younger and a little bit into my adult life, I traveled primarily with our Nana, our grandma. She. She loves to travel as well. So as kind of her, quote, travel buddy, she likes to say. And she would take me, you know, all kinds of different places. We would go to places that we could go on the weekend, like to the. The closest beach. So a few hours away, she would take me. We went to, like, Branson, Missouri, once, which was a little weird, and we got sucked into some weird timeshare thing, but that's a whole other story. And then we went to Tennessee, and she was really. She is really big into genealogy, so she kind of like, we would go to the different places that our family was from so that we could, you know, study the genealogy. So was there a favorite city that you visited? I mean, I know, like, in talking about, like, my younger days, probably Chicago was one of the best ones with her. She. We decided, you know, we'd already been by plane before everywhere and by car everywhere, so she decided we were gonna go on an Amtrak train. So, like a three hour train ride took us, I think it was 22 hours to get to Chicago. And would I do it again? Not necessarily, but it was fun. While we were doing it, did you.

02:18 Try deep dish pizza?

02:19 No, unfortunately. And I'm still upset about that. I'll have to go back so I can actually try it. But, yeah, we went for, like, spring break, so it was St. Patrick's Day, and they dye the river green, which was really cool to see. And I just remember it was really cold and we were not prepared, but it was by far one of my favorite cities that I've ever been to.

02:45 Are there any places you went when you were younger that you would probably never want to go back to?

02:51 Branson, Missouri? No, I'm just kidding. I mean, no, not really. I don't remember having a bad time in any of the cities that we visited. No, they were all pretty good.

03:08 You mentioned your childhood trips. What trips have you gotten to go on as an adult.

03:13 Oh, my favorite trip, like, of all time. I know that's not what you asked, but I got to go to Scotland, Ireland and Scotland back in 2019 with our mom and with our Nana, and I just. I was blown away. It was so gorgeous. We had such a good time. Everybody that we, like, talked to while we were there were the nicest, kindest people in the world. And I just. Oh, it was so amazing.

03:52 Are there any, like, funny moments from the trip that make it memorable?

03:58 Yeah. So let's see. In 2019, Nana would have been 69 years old. 68. 69 years old. So she struggled with all of the walking a little bit. And I mean, she'd already had the one knee replaced and she needs the other knee replaced and like, it's this whole thing. But I remember walking around Edinburgh and we walked a lot. And it wasn't just like a straight line. They actually have kind of not mountainous areas, but it's definitely a lot hillier than it is here. And I don't even remember how far we walked that day. Probably like 10 miles or something back and forth through the city. And I remember getting back to the hotel room. Well, the. It wasn't a hotel. It was like a.

04:54 Like a house kind of thing.

04:56 Like a house that we stayed in. Like a room in a house. It was really cool. But anyway, we got back to the hotel room and I remember her laying down in the bed and I. She like, laid out. Like, imagine you lay down to do a snow angel when it's snowing outside. Like, that's how she was passed out on the bed. She, mom and I just looked over at her and she's just like sprawled out. Like starfished out. Yes, she's a starfish on this twin size bed. And it's amazing. But there was another one with her too. So, like, public transportation is big in Scotland, unlike here. And we were on the train coming back from a castle that we'd visited and she'd kind of fallen asleep next to the window seat. Like, she's in the window seat and she'd kind of fallen asleep because it'd been a long day and we'd traveled a lot and this Scottish woman came and sat down in this fourth seat next to us and she was just talking on the phone and whatever. And all of a sudden we kind of go through this like, tunnel y type area and this train is on the track right next to us. And it scares Nana so bad that she like, because she's asleep, so she like jumps and wakes up in this seat, and the Scottish woman next to her just started cackling on the phone, like, it was the funniest thing she'd ever seen. And we heard her on the phone saying, yeah, this woman next to. I think she might have even said, this American woman next to us. Even better. She just jumped because the train. The plane. The. No, the train scared her. And. Oh, my God, it was so funny. Oh, you had to be there.

06:55 Was there any, like, unexpected difficulties, like, navigating through a new country?

07:02 It wasn't too bad. I. I love to plan things, so I kind of, like. I'd kind of planned out all the details of the trip, including transportation. I don't know that we had any difficulties. I kind of just, like. I guess finding our way to the train station would have been the biggest difficulty that we came across. But literally, like, we were walking down a street in Ireland, and these people could tell that we were kind of lost. And they were like, do you need help? You know, like, where's the train station? Can you tell us? And of course, they were just like, yeah, yeah, keep going. You know, however far down this street and then make a right, and you're right there. They were all lovely. It was great.

07:47 What part did you enjoy the most about it?

07:52 We took a tour in Edinburgh that took us up into the Scottish Highlands, and it was so breathtakingly gorgeous. Like, there's not even pictures don't do it justice. There's not even words to describe how beautiful it is, truly. And there was one part because we had this awesome tour guide. You know, of course, the great Scottish accent and the kilts and all of that. And so he was talking about where all these different places and all these things that had happened in that area. And then all of a sudden, he's like. Like, we're just driving down this random road, and he's like, okay, we're gonna pull over. And we're like, okay. You know, like, us that. Look, there's, like, I think maybe 20 people on this bus. And he's like, okay, we're gonna pull over. So that was a little weird, but we got out of the bus, and we were in this area called Three Sisters Mountain. And it was. Seriously, there's no words. It was the most stunningly, breathtakingly gorgeous area I've ever been to in my life. And it was cold, and it was, like, the first part of the trip that wasn't raining, really. So we just kind of got to stand there in awe at these mountains and like, the air smells different. I don't even know how to describe it, but I. I could have just stayed there the whole time because it was just otherworldly. I don't know how else to say it.

09:28 So now that we've talked about all of these places you've been already, where else would you like to go?

09:34 Well, that's a good question. I definitely. I guess let's start in the US Places that I have not been, but I'd like to go. I think Maine would be amazing in, like, Massachusetts. So, like, a lot of the Upper East Coast, I guess, because I've been through a lot of the southern east coast, if that makes sense. But yeah, like, that upper region, like.

10:05 New Hampshire and like, New York kind of area.

10:07 Yeah, like Massachusetts. Oh, yeah. Like, upstate New York would be awesome. Think it's beautiful. And then, like, I'd love to go to Toronto, which is kind of in that same area. I know it's not the US but.

10:22 You know, close enough.

10:26 And then, like, dreamtripping in the United States is definitely Seattle. Seattle, Portland, and then Vancouver, which, again, not the United States, but I just. It looks so pretty and so, like.

10:42 So nice and rainy. Which we don't get here.

10:45 No, it's so the opposite of what we get here. The hot and liquid soup air that we get and. Okay, so let's see. Not in the US I feel like there's so many.

11:03 So many different options.

11:04 A lot of options. Oh, back to the US of course. I'd love to go to, like, Hawaii and stuff. That would be awesome. Some pictures I've seen of places in Montana, which I never thought I would say that, but Montana looks kind of stunning. Anyway, out of the US I definitely want to go to, like, I want to spend some time in London because I didn't get to do that. I want to go to Germany, and I want to.

11:33 Yeah, I feel like just explore. Exploring more of that, like, European area would be so much fun.

11:38 All of it is so close together that it would be so easy to get from one place to the other. Like, compared, you know, relatively, I guess. Yeah. But I'm. I'm definitely a history buff, so I want to go see, like, you know, famous World War II sites. I want to see the concentration camps, as horrible and as sad as they're going to be. I want to go see, like, the Swiss Alps would be amazing. Honestly, like, probably all of Europe I would go see. I want to go to Tokyo.

12:12 Yeah, I feel like Tokyo would be so awesome.

12:14 And even, like, Thailand and Vietnam have some amazing looking beaches. And I think it's a lot cheaper than a lot of the other places that you might want to go. I'd probably go to, like, Australia, New Zealand. New Zealand, I think, would be better than Australia. I don't know why. I just.

12:34 I feel like I would be so scared to go to Australia because I've heard of, like, all the dangerous spiders.

12:40 No big snakes.

12:41 I feel like New Zealand might have less of them, though.

12:43 But. Yeah, yeah, that seems a little safer of an option. But I don't know, I think if somebody offered to take me certain places or like any place, I'd probably just.

12:55 Go and be like, okay, whatever, yeah, sure, let's go.

12:57 Yeah. Like our grandmother used to say, if you're buying, I'm flying.
