Pierrick (P) and Cathy (C) talk about being full-time artists. P shares memories of having a studio in London, Paris and Tampa. C shares memories of partnering with P and the day P proposed to her by a lake. C talks about not being fulfilled in the commercial photography and wanting to give back to other artists.
P and C talk about money being a stumbling block for most artists to enter the art market. P mentions having to invest a substantial amount of money to showcase work. P and C talk about deciding to start their own online gallery in the U.S. and Europe focusing on solo and group shows.
C and P both discuss their process of being collaborative artists. P explains it as a lot of talking with each other. It helps them to talk with other artists and gently guide other artists. C talks about passing on wisdom.
C talks about artists working together in collaboration. P talks about working remotely about 10 to 12 years prior to the Covid pandemic. He explains that it didn’t affect the way they work but did affect the museum. C talks about the pandemic lockdown taking a toll in Europe and the U.S.
P and C describe their work with children of migrant farmers who don’t have internet and live in poverty. C describes the children holding a camera for the first time and how it helps them express themselves with a camera. P talks about this serving as fun for them, developing collaboration and social skills.
P talks about his grandfather giving him a camera for the first time. P then talks about sky diving and being a pilot. C talks about their work with artists all started with them and then growing to include emerging artists that then included working with children, seniors and establishing artists.
P describes art as being a powerful voice and says when things are not going well in society then art becomes more important. Then P talks about art being the representation of America right now, expression of morals and creativity of this country. C describes art as a way to view the world and photography being a language and talks about a solo exhibit.
P talks about Parkinson’s disease and a series he worked on regarding his Parkinson’s disease then relates this back to art. P talks about children understanding the magic of photography. C talks about their innocent approach to it.
C asks P what has stood out to him as the most impactful. P describes a senior who is an African American artist. He explains that he has a knowledge of jazz then he describes another senior artist who is disabled and talks of looking at fine art photography of flowers and this leading to her recalling working at a flower shop as a youth. He then talks about Barbara Adler who is a widower. Her husband was a photographer with her and photography has become a way for her to reconnect after his death. C adds in that it gives her purpose.
C talks with P about deciding what to do next. They recall a memory of retiring from teaching adults and teaching at a college and transitioning out of the commercial world. P talks about the success of others being their success. P talks about C being an ordained minister and his interest in ministry. He explains that art and raising children is a service and expression of their faith.
C talks about living with great empathy and wanting to raise others up. C talks about right brain and left brain people having a hard time understanding each other and that some don't understand those that go in the path of art. P says they are interrelated science and art i.e painting, photography and dance. P talks about children growing up being artists because this is how they express without language and how they draw or play. P talks about people losing this as they grow older.
