00:03 Hello, my name is Jamie kaneski. I'm 31 years old. Today is Thursday, July 12th, 2007. It's about 7:30 p.m. And we're in the house I grew up in Barnesville, Pennsylvania.

00:18 And this is my grandfather.

00:21 My name is Albert Wolfgang. And today is Thursday, July 12th, 2007 and in my home in, Barnesville, Pennsylvania.

00:32 How can I get the age my age is 87 years old.

00:38 That's good I've had

00:41 I was hoping we could talk about how you got drafted when you got drafted the whole story.

00:50 Right from the beginning right from that first letter that you got. All right. I got this letter from the president reading and they want to meet you and put in your arm.

01:03 Howard drafted February 12th, 1942 Howard Center, Fort Meade Maryland for basic training from there. We went to a p Hill Virginia we walk from Fort Meade, Maryland AP Hill, Virginia. I was part of training it took a week and we got the AP Hill Virginia and that was where we joined up with our regular outfit the 29th Division and I was in a calmly 175th regiment.

01:35 From there. We went to Maneuvers and

01:38 North and South Carolina

01:41 And from there we went there.

01:44 Camp Blanding, Florida

01:47 We got the campground in Florida where there for about a month and then we were going to be at that time. There was four regiments in the division and not they're going to make it a streamline three or regiment.

02:01 So they took one regiment away and then they decided they were going to take our regiment and send us out the Fort Sill Oklahoma to be demonstration troops under artillery fire.

02:15 I know I do requipment was packed up and load on the train and we're both leave on Monday on Sunday morning. We got orders to go down on load the train at Levi Berry bags and everything packed and not to do anything with them.

02:32 Monday we got orders to go out and start censoring or Barracks bag Port of embarkation, New York, New York. So we know where we were going someplace.

02:46 And then sometime later on our company commander and event decal come back from Oklahoma and short time later. We got on a train to come up to New York and Willow turn on the Queen Elizabeth and we sailed into the three days. We Landon.

03:06 Glasgow, Scotland

03:09 It took us off of the Queen Elizabeth and Byberry and took us into the port because Queen Elizabeth couldn't get into the shore up there and airport. So they used to land on the French side of the British Isles and they wouldn't win their the English Channel. So I only rode all night and day down to kid worth barracks and England and we stayed there for a couple months. Then we went to South Brent Atwood down further in England Southern England. And from there. We went to say knives and we're there for 8 months.

03:55 Not draining on the Moors of England.

04:02 So you got to see quite a bit of quite a bit of England English Countryside while we travel all over we travel all over that the Moors and we had a good time while we are there and

04:20 What kind of a good time?

04:23 Well, we we were the first American soldiers in that neighborhood that we had the pick of the crop.

04:31 You're pretty popular, huh? Yeah, we had with could not the only got a lot of nice girls that what was left and we had a good time.

04:44 You were there for 8 months. What were you doing during the hols 8 months. I mean, did you have to keep training did you or was just sort of a hurry-up-and-wait thing where you just we're waiting for orders and do training and depending what Lieutenant we had. We had one Lieutenant, but the name Reed you can read and we go out and do more than what he'd say. We would doing this over and over and over again. Just lay down find a shady spot in those rest here for the rest of the day until it's time to go back and then went back to the camp.

05:21 We live that by the way, we lived in a nice big hotel was converted in the barracks for soldiers. Looking over the bay and saying eyes.

05:36 So what more can you tell me about the lieutenant Reed a nice guy sort of goofy when we are where we are. Brent the Gap. They're all I had was a pole fence made out of pipe and we were downtown when I drink in the ostrich weren't supposed to go downtown and drink with Dana. Justin men have a good downtown and we are drinking and of course we got half shined up and took a shortcut back and when you become the defense, we're time Norwood to real Donna or climbing or we looked up and we seen this guy in top of the fence. He was. He couldn't get over it couldn't get back and then we find.

06:33 Then we went on back to Camp next morning with her forever and a company Commander after was all over. He said Wolfgang Brubaker of a state report the day room.

06:48 These these other two guys Brubaker and so they shoot every year there. You're drinking buddies in my my Squad Squad that I was in and they were the powers what we were to power on with all the time.

07:04 And that we got in a day Roman. We got all boy. Now. We know what's up and comes read to come to command or stud or what what what did you do last night? We didn't do nothing. You said you were in your car and come not only place we call him read he did. He said why you're going to get a week's extra Duty. So every night after detail, we had to go down report to the doctor today and we had to go around 3, stop the area pick up to our butts and cigarette butts and all that kind of paper and all that kind of crap and the third night when we went up and let's go down and took it down and put it in a dictator digging a ditch 6 by 6 by 6, and then I have to have a dog that.

08:04 Back up again and not the first sergeant come down and having to see if there any says what he's doing in there. What are these men doing in there get out of there? You don't belong in there and it looks kind of throw it in cards that you said they have to stay in their my orders isn't for them down there. So you could up and next thing, you know, he comes back yet. Battalion commander and he said these guys are not supposed to be in there. He said they're they're supposed to be taken picking up butts and all that. So then

08:43 Dyna Commander said don't even know the difference of what these guys were ever on duty for.

08:53 And he said that one he didn't always said he just thought everybody had a good on digging this ditch. So he says what we should get out of the ditch. We are trying to wake up but Lieutenant Dan told her what time to go down the other digging a ditch himself and we were relieved and that was the end of that deal and then we moved from there down to say knives.

09:20 Calabrian st. Ives 8 month

09:24 That was really you you spent the majority of your time in England like it. Yeah, but when we got back to go to town I had that we got picked to go any Advantage Detail clean up the hotel and get it all ready and I'll because we were the first troops there to clean it all up. So we went down and we are week ahead of time.

09:48 And I looked and read that. We got there eating. Now. This is that you'll have to clean the hotel at the top of the bottom the basement kitchen where they did all the cooking and everything else and I inspected if I passed it you're done if you get it done in a day to get done in a week in a week, but whenever you get it done I inspected if I get back to the thing you're done, you're free. I have clear sailing for the rest of the company come till he finished in three days and he infected and we are on our own for three day at from the rest of the time man of the week.

10:32 Alien combine. We are downtown way to pick of the crop.

10:38 And in all this all this time you were in England.

10:43 You guys are getting ready for the invasion of Normandy weren't you? A lot of time where there we were following the first division wherever the first division one. We were following it and we were trained her for the invasion and the holidays and

11:07 Until you guys had to do follow around the first division, right? Yeah lot of the first envisioned left and went down to Africa and when we left the United States, we were supposed to go to Africa the back them up at 1 get out in the middle of the ocean. They found out that division was only 50% said he's done this thing. Then there no place to put a good incentives into combat with 50% said he sent his thing that they really had no place for us to go. That's how come we wound up into work barracks.

11:42 So then from there I really get moving down the line and another tube the following us. I guess I don't know.

11:54 What else can you tell me about the when you were in England?

12:00 Wow, we would that you were to go down every time every night. We are free. We could go downtown. We could go to London we can get past this weekend passes. Go to London.

12:12 But that was a long way from Sid work up the London house long way. We only made I guess about three trips up there most of the time we spent down its and I

12:24 How old were you at the time?

12:28 22 I guess.

12:30 I was 21 when I was drafted.

12:33 And I guess it was around 21 22 in between a date sometime. I just don't remember.

12:42 After me ask you this when you when you got that letter when you got that letter saying you were drafted.

12:48 How did dumb?

12:51 How did things go at home? What did the what what did your mom and dad think about it?

12:59 Nothing, everybody was being drafted. The only thing I should have been drafted so quick those other guys and Gordon that could have been drafted before me. I got a dollar who is on the draft board in and they were picking who they wanted to drive them who didn't want to drive.

13:23 Were they worried or your parents worried? Were you worried now? I wasn't worried.

13:29 Made it, but I know now and I know that I would have been but

13:34 I wouldn't worry everybody. Everybody wanted to go there was a guys and lifting and everything else. It wasn't like it is now.

13:47 It was a whole lot. It was whole effort from everyone everyone sort of chipped in. Yeah, because they attacked Japan attack Pearl Harbor.

13:57 That was a big thing 99 everybody wanted to go and everybody ladies. I mean girls rather and everybody young wanted to go to his very very few. That didn't go I don't think it would anybody left and Gordon out with the beige to go that didn't go it was maybe three. I think that didn't want to go but they want and then go nowhere.

14:26 When you're 8 months in England where we're up.

14:30 What happened? Well, we're in a hotel one day and when the people downtown know more about what's going on than we know and I was going to go downtown and downtown this one night, and she said to me one of these days you're going to leave shortly for the invasion of France. I should not going yet. She says you're going to go one of these days. So wasn't it was a couple of days later.

15:01 Ludowici we all fell out in the back of the hotel and Company Commander come out and give us a little speech and he said that we should pack my bags and they give us a paper with what we could take what we couldn't take all the rest of the stuff. We have to leave their personal belongings and stuff. We couldn't take no pictures. None like that that Identity or that the Germans could use that that if we are captured that they could use to get information out of us like any pictures of her parents are girlfriends or anything like that. We couldn't take anything like that along with us.

15:46 Anna

15:51 Then we know what was going on. So we packed everything in her bags and everything is cleaner bunx up and everything. We're while we were sitting there waiting we decided we're going to order some hard shell crabs just two fingers and just when they came with a half a butchered Baskin, we just got done sit down and eat them.

16:13 They blew the whistle on Fallout and then they're staging area. We were putting Squad in Squad was putting a separate then and we weren't allowed to talk about nothing about the invasion nothing about what was going to do or I was going to do or anything else and they had guards on the outside walking around each can

16:48 And then they invasion was scheduled for.

16:55 Fifth Third Bank

16:58 And I

17:01 It was the dorm that English Channel width so stormy.

17:05 They canceled it. But anyway, they loaded some trucks and took us up and put us on ship L Estes and they were big Landing barges 90 days. Tell-all tanks women that get it open up and they could take a tank in World of Tanks or cars are floating around Channel.

17:31 And then they call log Invasion because it was too too stormy and they only had one more days till they want the next day. We went on the invasion because if they would have waited it would have been like three months. I think before the way the waves were in the way that hides for over there that we can be good for the invasion and the next day we sailed off for project Channel.

18:01 That was D-Day. That was D-Day.

18:05 They got across the channel.

18:09 Landon France

18:12 I know it's guys laying all over.

18:15 Some of them didn't even get the other Landing barges that got caught in crossfire with machine gun from my pill boxes.

18:24 And we were lucky we got the weekend off. All right.

18:29 When you got there, you were a you weren't the first division or company there. You were the second or the third now. We were just checking where second wave.

18:40 First wave with a hundred and 16th and 115th and we were the next wave 175th.

18:51 But I imagine what they were still out of fighting when you got there, but I imagine that there was still a lot of fighting going on when you got there. Oh, yeah, you couldn't lay on the beach at it get you off and you had it in the beach was pretty long because they'll end up like on low tide because I had all kind of obstacles in the water in the beach in the water and they had a land out further because as soon as that barge hit you regardless of what his head. He already drop the gate and he was starting backwards and you got to get out of there in a hurry.

19:29 And make it across the living some guys land and water up there and I was over their head.

19:39 When you landed how deep was the water and light up their way and your weighted into the shower and you'd be there across the sand up to the bank like you got to go up there?

19:53 I know is one how it's on top of the hill.

19:56 Are we Landing?

19:59 How many guys are with you?

20:01 The whole company

20:03 I wearing different write each barge had a squad in it.

20:09 Like I was a whole company.

20:14 Pap what was your rank driving?

20:21 So when you guys made it up the hill.

20:24 Where'd you go? From there? We went in and we dropped her back in her black and roll and all and all we had was just alright changing tool.

20:40 And her I missed gear and all that ugly and one blanket and that's all we had all the rest. We dropped. I don't know what they're doing with them.

20:52 I never seen mine no more.

20:57 Pat how long were you there? How long are you in France?

21:00 Well

21:01 90 day

21:05 And on the 28th of August

21:08 They're going to take breast.

21:10 Hadn't had cut off the peninsula and we're going to take breast and

21:19 This guy got wounded in the in the sunken Road.

21:23 I'm going out to get him.

21:26 And now we got only brought them back and I told this other Soldier to bring my rifle because it help me carry this guy back and we got back.

21:37 And I said don't where's my rifle? He said I left it after I took last night, so I should wear watch I'm going to go out and get it.

21:48 So I went out and I got picked it up and I reached down and when I reached down to pick up the rifle and I stood up and turn around to come back and just felt like somebody told me in the right in the Box.

22:04 And I went down.

22:07 And my buddy holler. Can you walk I said now I, like you said, can you crawl I said I think you said to call across the road. So I called cross the road and hiragana got me by the wrist and pull me over the head draw.

22:25 And I said don't have to regular head right side. When do you go back? Because he got hit earlier. He said he just got back that day. His name was Merle Patty.

22:35 From Baltimore and

22:39 They laid me on a on a pile of dirt there.

22:43 And I understand that I said hello Boys Roll me over to throw me over my stomach and then I remembered I come up in the Medics the guy star cut my pant leg up alongside and the guy said I'll give me a cut the leg off.

23:05 And I passed out I guess they gave me a shot of something morphine or something. I don't know what and I passed out.

23:13 Come to

23:16 I was going on I had never turned me back and let my own always fall on my head and I was laying on my stomach and I fell and banging my helmet on my head and then I passed out again.

23:29 And next time I come to live alone in a jeep with my head sticking in there in through the windshield at a windshield on the head was talking through the windshield and

23:42 Douglas back took me back rather.

23:46 Put me in an ambulance just took me back then. I don't know where to but it was a big field and it was loaded with people in there guys on stretchers and I was awake then and I was hurting and this lady came over to me through the nurse and she said what's the matter? I said I have to pass my water. So do you want to do that?

24:12 Give me a duck. That's when she got this.

24:16 And I couldn't pass my water. So she come back out there a little while just as what's the matter? I said, I can't go she said aloud picture so she called earlier.

24:29 Get around that's arriving kit and I was never in the hospital before and I didn't know what that was a bottle of olive oil.

24:40 What's the game that you looked at distance to. I didn't get a different number to get this thing up. And I looked at it with a rubber hose and I got what I asked. I note that I soon found out. But anyway, it took three and a half duck to water out of me. If you said no wonder you was hurt and she says when did you go to the bathroom? I said whenever before I get hit she said that was 3 days ago.

25:12 So and then you were you were in and out you were passing out and the time I was passing in and out all the time. I guess every time I'd be hollering with pain why they stab me or something with morphine or I don't know if they can me and you were shot up pretty bad that my right leg at nine inches of the Bone shot away and will one unit. Come on my Crocs and boiler whatever it was. I don't know what is a bullet and shrapnel or what it was.

25:46 N a load of me on an arid area to load me on airplane. I said to this lady that was on the airplane I said no, they didn't kill me. Now. You're going to kill me. This is why what do you mean I said, well, I never flown airplane on my life and I don't like it.

26:11 She said today guys treated set him on the floor. So she let me in at 4 and I thought you're going to miss that there they brought to others and now and I'm up then pick him up now pick me up. I just hung two stretchers litters, whatever. We're on the ropes like coming hanging down the ceiling and they had me right of the window where I can look out the wing.

26:37 And after they got the play no download and everything else. This thing was roaring Roar on Warren and I look out no English rapping and going on. I told her fall off of that thing. And did you come up to me? He's just what the matter is. It just ain't got the wings are going to fall off. But she said now they want and after Wiley, they finally took off and she stayed with me all the while didn't take long and they started flying and they start to find up along the coast looking out the window could see the channel and then fly I and I said where we're going the wrong direction or you could now they go up this side project channel to fly down on the other side.

27:32 Dog weight for a woman come down

27:35 And that

27:38 We London England.

27:41 Any loaded tonight?

27:44 Ambulances and I took a nice new hospital. They just open it up.

27:50 And we get in there and a free listing for this in the bed and after with all filled up and everything out. This guy come in. He would have captain or major or something. I don't know. I just drank with them. I don't remember. But anyway, he come around you with the doctor and he looked at everybody and what were you could work on that day or at night?

28:15 Did work on do it come to me and he says the Beverly was wrote on the cats out of Gaston by the way from my neck all the way down to my toes. Everything was covered the hole on the front hole in the back and kicked out of go to bathroom and he said well a good enough already that night. They let me lay there.

28:40 The next morning he come in.

28:46 Annie come up to me and he says you're lucky. That's what I mean. I'm lucky. He says will you be home for Christmas house? Yeah. I know you think you'll be home for Christmas. You'll be home for Christmas. I won't tell her I said, okay, so I know money anyways, does it make a difference? Anyway, they they cut the cast of me took me out of the cats, and he said that the nurse

29:30 How to clean me up wash all that junk off and everything else and get me all cleaned up and they can men they put screens around my bed and they started fixing me up throwing up this journal throwing up.

29:45 And I was laying there for

29:48 The day and

29:50 I said dinner take the out something's wrong in the crotch right side hurts like crazy and

29:56 She should let me take a look and then she calling me.

29:59 The Doctor Who come in my said they didn't have that Mark on a cast here whatever. It was went in and come out on my crotch. So I got the screen set everything up. I couldn't take me out of bed. So they operate on me right in there. They tried to sell it up 37th Dixon they put in how he said you have to lay perfectly still.

30:26 I was laying there and all of a sudden I just felt like a cat on me and I hollered and I guess the nurse heard me and she come up and see this is what's the matter. I said something wrong. I said head hurts and it don't man and she looking to call the doctor and the doctor said, well, you moved yet the month of torm out guitar all the stitches out. You said there ain't no more. It's going to have to account so it up a lot for just seal up the way it is.

30:58 Play there. I was at 28 though. I was

31:05 September the Denver II nuggets or what?

31:09 Had a dare from then.

31:12 Until December they put my leg and traction the whole into my leg bone here in my knee and

31:23 Show me up in traction after the land later for until night. My leg went I know it swelled up that big that they couldn't put the brakes on it and na.

31:37 That night

31:39 I like jump the Nerds. I guess my leg numb my bed in hell out of bed matter. I said something wrong with my leg. I think fell out of bed. I couldn't move it of course, so she'll never afraid to move it back in bed again. So they got a board and put it underneath the mattress to the bed in the pillow and lay my leg on there to do just have to stay like that until the morning cuz I got a plan comes in the doctor. I think you were the captain or major on the Witch and now

32:22 8 minutes is what are you doing? I said nothing like that. My God don't like jumped out of bed. That's all I know. So then he called me said there was a nerves in the make the cars at the jump and it just happened to fall out of bed. So

32:39 Put it back in that again. I used to not keeping him dead and I laid there and then I waited and find they went down and swelling went down enough that they said they were going to put in track in there when Olivia light at first they were going to cut the leg off because they said it was too bad shot up, but he said know you're going to try and save it so.

33:03 By Nicki Minaj that swelling went down after they could put that thing on it because there's a big ring like underneath and they put it in that put up in traction.

33:16 And I used to say to him when he commit every day to come and look at it. You know what I say don't lie to get that pin out of there after I start feeling a little better. So we just pulled out flyers.

33:32 This this was the Peter the pin that was through the bone in your knee in the bed and hung over the edge and they put sandbags on there to pull her leg back in place again and

33:54 Anyway, I would always ask them how you get that pin out of how to get that pin out of there.

34:01 He should would just get a hold with a prior to pull it out. You don't clean your sleep or nothing nose, and you just pull it out.

34:13 A friendly they gave me a monkey bar because I was laying flat on my back all this time. They gave me a monkey bar pull myself up so I can lift my back up off the bed because I lay flat on the bed.

34:26 And now December 1st the command and he said well, there's a big day is done said what's up said today is the day. I collect my money. I scratch collect the money for what he said that bet you made so what bet I forgot all about it said that better about my peg at your pay. I said, I ain't going to fix it while he said you can send it to me. So I said why you such as well, we're going to take your leg down today.

35:02 Get a cast put on it and sometime tonight. You're going to get a stripped out here going back to the States.

35:09 I said are you sure it's been wondering? What do you think? He says I wouldn't take it like down try to head out. If not, but it took me down out of the traction.

35:21 And my leg wouldn't straighten out.

35:24 And she said that he said the nurse strain you have to get his legs straightened out as much as possible cuz he got a cast on it. So they worked on it and pushing it and clean it. Finally got it down at the Madonna get a cast put on it.

35:44 And that

35:46 Gavin come back then. He says well they had to wait until the next morning to shut me down there too, because of cats wasn't trying up.

35:55 Jedi Knight

35:57 I'll I don't know how I did it, but I rollover my side.

36:02 A nurse or somebody must have seen me here and she come up and she snuck up behind now. It's sleeping snuck up behind me and she said

36:12 Albert, what are you doing?

36:17 She's what are you doing?

36:19 I do not know why she said you're on your side. She said if you were laid back or you two fell out of bed.

36:28 Pepperoni backtrack a little bit

36:31 When the doctor pulled the pin out

36:34 What happened when the doctor pulled the pin out? I'm getting ahead of oil anyway.

36:40 The doctor come in

36:42 And not the debit today was a big day. I'm going to pull up in on everything else course. I've got to grab the holder side of Ben I turn my head and I'm waiting on that. Don't pull it out about I said that in this thing, I looked I shall I guess that's it. I said when you pull out he said I that I want to talk to you.

37:14 How big was it was about maybe 3 8 size in a round diameter and maybe 3/4 inch long that they could hook them up Sonya and I said don't know how how could you take that out? You said that don't grow faster your phone because there's a stainless steel pen and that won't grow faster your phone or your phone won't grow faster that and he said that's loose all the time. You said if I would have took that way I could have took that bin out anytime but he kept you go in the whole time you were in tracks and Miller Drive me all the time from the time you put into the time you took me out. It was all about. It course I was asked always asking about it, too.

38:06 That he used to everybody bring any theaters in my star patient back here. I was there longer guys are coming and going coming and going and coming and going I was just laying there doing nothing and

38:22 Patches to

38:24 Just to wrap things up when everything got said and done.

38:29 And at night he came in the next morning and he said to me what are you doing wrong with me or side assist? I hope you didn't break that casket her cast and I said, I don't know Solis or just to make sure he's not going to send you back down. Haven't put a couple more layers on the outside of the cast.

38:57 Veracross your data board in between my legs that I couldn't move my legs in or anything and this cast on the left leg below the knee on that one, but this one was covered all the way down and accept me down. Got a couple more layers, but I'm brought me up and made me there and call me up with a starter call Amor guys named out of my thought up brother. Maybe you're not going to take me after all finally. They took me to take me out for me and took me down load me on this boat.

39:41 And they put me down below deck.

39:44 And I'm man there.

39:46 And I'm that a guy's when's this thing going to get going you got here in a Motors going and everything?

39:54 And I

39:56 He said you're in Salem for 3 days already.

40:12 He said after lunch, you said I'll get some guys and we'll open the portal on will you leave it? Look out study. Did he got some guys open a porthole and let me know God would just like a big mirror out there. It wasn't a ripple in the water. And I said no matter. How come when I went over. I went over on the Queen Elizabeth and no way it's going up for the top of the thing up the top deck and this thing right nothing. He said because they're going without sour cream and not there's a way most y'all are the chips go because it's nice and calm.

40:52 London New York 12 days December 12th

40:57 Landon New York Lotus and ambulance took a holler and general hospital and they told us not to call him and give it to free phone calls, but not to call our parents and tell him to come see us that they're going to move it closer Home.

41:17 I think we're going to have to wrap it up or running low on time, but I just want to clarify when you got home and after everything was said and done.

41:28 Your leg work fine

41:31 Well, I know I had bad brakes on I was supposed to wear it was faster than in the make sure.

41:38 And and up along my leg in.

41:42 No need to get that on there.

41:46 I think so. Hang on.

41:50 2Pac when you got to the hospital and you got to make those two calls, who did you call my mother and I call my uncle in Brooklyn and I told him not to come that we're going to get moved closer Home on trains and he send this down to Rome, Georgia.

42:06 And

42:07 We were there until.

42:10 Oh, I don't know how long and at that made it work Dory, Virginia and Fort Joy Virginia hats. Are there a while the guy sent me an February that word? It's hardly a matter of fact, you said if you want even go home.

42:26 But you have to wear that Braves Isis. Okay, so I got my clothes on and on to get clothes in the guy says I have no clothes that guy said to put on yard today. My niece's whatever your name on it and not thinking you was my head. It was a stop by the afternoon. But anyway, I was just don't understand when I get home. So I got to go to the mom got in the train and I got in a taxi cab first to go to Eric the train station and I took the bracelet because I couldn't stand it on and we either make sure was fastened to the brave Savage on crutches and had to break and I talked to your driver to take you can't do that. Right? So I'm taking it off and I going to get into the station in Atlanta.

43:16 I said, I don't know. Did you have to go down steps? So I said I'll take care of it. So he told the guy in the guy put me on that buggy. They took me down the elevator code of conduct or put me on the train coming to Pennsylvania. Got the Harrisburg on the way there to meet me. And if not was big snow storm up here. They had at that time and I will be there to meet me and I called my cousin in Pottsville. And I said, who's it going to come get me? She says where I accident Harrisburg. I'll come and get it. Got me suggest a there cuz you can't came and got me and took me home.

43:59 I want to backtrack a little bit when you were in the hospital in New York did not Gilbert come visit you I didn't say that because I don't want to go to hospital from Brooklyn come over to see me. I call him the course because I would want him free call and he came over to see me. I said you can't get no worries is the van are motorized you can walk and then him he was a Jewish brother and your hard work. How big heavy Overcoat you said to me. You want a little nip.

44:37 I just a little nippy said yeah, and at that time had that little brat whiskey bottles and when I got there were something he pulled the Geico Parker had a glass of portable and give me. So they can't give me a you don't know how it got in. He walked right in. Nobody stopped them. Nobody asked many questions. I don't know.

45:15 What was the drink of what was the shot of whiskey? I don't know what kind but I bet is the best tasting whiskey at ever tasted. I didn't really drink whiskey by the taste good.

45:32 Okay well Papa.

45:36 I know I'm really glad that you made it home. And you know, I'm glad we were able to talk about this in and get the story down and and thank you for telling it.
