R on his childhood in NYC in the 1940's and 1950's in a middle class Jewish community. On being blonde and blue eyed and sticking out because of it. Went to Jewish American camps in the Berkshires.
R on meeting and marrying Darya's mom, a "WASP", in college. College was hard in terms of his identity and confidence. Though divorced, they're still friends. One of only people in SF he knows and is friends with.
Happiest memories of when D was young - hanging out all over Greenwich Village and NYC.
D and R on their shared liberal politics and interest in social justice.
R on his struggles with depression. D praises him as a father.
D on taking her son Sacha to see a sports writer, Dave Ziron, with John Carlos, appreciating the political legacy in the family.
R on his legacy to grandchildren - moved by who she is and proud of who they are.
