00:00 My name is Carter Warhurst. Today is 1017 23 and I'm speaking with Todd Grantham, who is from Shepherdstown, WV We are recording this interview for the shepherd speaks Story Corps project, a program under the center for Appalachian Studies and Communities at Shepherd University in partnership with the National Storytelling Project. Share a story about a particular time, event, or person in your life that affected the course of your life, for better or for worse.
00:23 I was. I've been working here for 28 years, and I have developed all kind of relationships with everybody. Me giving them a little bit advice to spring them to better and bigger things in life means a lot to me. You know what I'm saying? A lot of people don't see that. I feel like I'm a role model or something like that. So it's nice to give people encouragement and be truthful to them and uplift them every day because this is a cold world right now. That's my story. Yeah, stuff's.
00:57 I've seen you in the cafeteria hanging out with students and talking and stuff.
01:02 That's. If you can't do that and see what the kids are going through, what are you here for? You know what I'm saying? We're here to serve them. I'm a little bit older, and I was like, if I can give experience or make something that can make their day better or their life better, it's a plus to me.
01:20 That's awesome.
01:21 You know what I'm saying? We don't look at things like that. But I can't change that way. I always have to be that way. That's how my mom raised me.
