Description

Slavica(Salva) Bardak is an immigrant from Slavonski Brod, Croatia who lived there during the war. She came to the United States in 2004 for her daughter, Suzanna who was pregnant. She was also an Immigrant and they came here after the war. Slava was able to take 2 suitcases with her. She had to run for her life from the war. There were bombs, tanks invading her village. She fled. She went back to her village later to see that her house was fully burnt down. Slava learned English from Sesame Street. She was overtime able to adjust to The Unites States and now works at The Bellevue Pro Sports Club as a nail lady. She spends most of her time reading and with her daughter. Slava misses Croatia and hopes that someday she can buy a small condo in Pula on the Adriatic Coast. Many of her clients have been trying to convince her to write a book. Slava said it would be called “Two Suitcases.” #globalbushschool2018
