00:00 My name is Hannah Salgado. I'm 17 years old, and I'm speaking with Yi. I'm recording in Aurora, Ohio. Can you tell me about someone who has had a big influence on your life and what lessons did that person teach you?

00:17 I think my dad had a big.

00:19 Try that again.

00:20 Oh, I think my dad had a big impact on me because he taught me. Taught me a lot of, like, basic life lessons. Such as? Like, don't listen to what other people say about you. Focus on school, families, always, number one, always care about them. It's just, like, normal things that I'll be applying to my life for the rest of my years.

00:44 You said. Well, you said in the recording that. We didn't record that. He said, keep your head down. Does that have any significance? Keep your head down or.

00:55 Oh, it's kind of like. Kind of keep pushing towards your goals. Like, no matter what, if you want to achieve something, you can't listen to the other people saying stuff about you. You just gotta. I don't know. Yeah, keep pushing towards your goals.

01:10 Okay, can you tell me about your. Can you tell me your thoughts about God?

01:17 There's a part of God that I believed, and there's also a part that I don't. It's hard. It's hard for me to believe some parts because, I don't know, never witnessed it. Like, how can you have proof of something from 2,000 years ago? Like, I don't know. It's just. It's like, a lot of things that make it very confusing to me, in my opinion.

01:45 Okay, so wait, did you believe in Santa when you were younger?

01:48 I did, yes, I believe in Santa, but it wasn't until, like, I found out, like, I stayed up and I just saw my parents just putting the gifts under the trees.

01:59 So how did you believe in that if, like, you never witnessed it? So how do you, like, believe in that and that you can't believe in God?

02:12 I think it's because I was just a little kid. You know, every. Every little kid believes in Santa and especially if it includes, like, some kind of reward or gift. So I think that helps.

02:26 You said, like, Santa, like, includes, like, rewards and gifts and stuff, but, like, I sound like such an advocate for God, but it's like, supposedly, like, God gives you, like, God gave you, like, the life that you had, and, like, he. He gives you the gift of watching over you and believing in him.

02:52 I also think as a little kid, you don't realize that. You don't take into consideration that God's actually given you life. God has actually given you all these good things in your life. As a little kid, you believe what you see. If you believe in Santa and the next morning he comes in with gifts in front of you, you're obviously going to believe that someone went down there. And I don't know. I think as a little kid, it. It was. It was more obvious or it seemed more obvious that Santa was real because of the actual material items.
