Description

John Friedrich (56) talks with his friend Bob Alpern (92) about his activism against the Vietnam War, including with Catholic priest Phil Berrigan in the Baltimore Interfaith Peace Mission.

He recalls bringing a member of the British Parliament, John Mendelson, to speak in front of a large audience in Baltimore.

These experiences led Bob from being a “fairly shy person” to becoming more active, vocal, participatory, engaged in creating non-violence at many levels.

Bob recalls a direct action protesting against the arms bazaar in Washington, DC, which led to a night in jail.
