Description

As a child, Luke Oman was always looking out the window. Today, he works on atmospheric processing for NASA. How do volcanic eruptions affect everyday life? What happens when sulfur dioxide gases from volcanoes interact with sulfate aerosol and stay in the atmosphere? "If the Montreal Protocol hadn’t passed, by 2050, half of the ozone layer would’ve been gone,” he says

Luke’s observations, modeling, and research impacts “our ability to understand and project the future.” Understanding the stratosphere and its sensitivities better will enable us to project the future, understand our environment, and live more harmoniously on earth. (Recorded 13 December 2018)
