"The moment I got onto the ship, they started preparations to leave the dock… I remember none of it, because I was in such COVID daze"

Description

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted, and in some cases completely brought to a halt, scientific exploration at sea. But scientists and ship crews learned how to adapt and navigate these complex waters, safely getting back out on the ocean and sailing further away from the threat of COVID.

Or were we?

Take a listen to this conversation with Deepa Dwyer, physical properties specialist on JOIDES Resolution for IODP Expedition 395. From a COVID-delayed expedition to her own COVID challenges, Deepa shares her incredible journey to sailing for two months, and the supportive people that made her time on the ship happen.
