"We went to the Gulf Coast Repository... and that was really exciting for me because I didn't realize you could do this kind of research"

Recorded July 26, 2024 19:30 minutes

Description

Each member of the scientific ocean drilling community has a unique story for when and how they became involved. Patty Standring sailed as a sedimentologist on JOIDES Resolution for Expedition 401, but her introduction goes back before she ever stepped foot on the JR. Patty shares her journey, starting with how Google directed her to become a geology major, to her time at a community college which opened the door to the Gulf Coast Repository and undergraduate research, to her present time of wrapping up work on samples and planning on more fun with foraminifera.
