Description

Glenn Orton is so deep in Jupiter mission information that he gets envious when he’s not involved in a space project studying the gas giant. The senior research scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory studies the composition and structure of atmospheres in the outer solar system, and early in his career, he became involved in analyzing data from the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes launched in the early 1970s.

While he and his colleagues received great information on the temperatures and other conditions from these studies and other missions to far out planets like the Galileo and Juno missions, Orton is also a big advocate of learning as much as possible before missions in order to guide more productive missions.
