Description

Frank Schwing oversees the science information division at NOAA and is particularly proud of his transition from doing science to becoming a manager of science. He says, “Working for a federal agency, one of the demands is to make [the research] mission relevant, but also to give people the opportunity to be creative in their science.” Despite the additional administrative work, he found it rewarding to promote mission-relevant science. He also talks about his time serving the Office of Science, Technology, and Policy during the first term of the Obama Administration, crafting new ocean policy, and importance of diversity in science.
