David Young, Director of Science at NASA Langley Research Center, discusses his life's work studying the earth's climate. After an early interest in astrophysics, he focused in on earth science due to his desire to do research to help humans. His past work on cloud remote sensing addressed the question of whether clouds warm or cool the climate. More recently, collaborating with an economist has led to more practical and focused work on addressing climate change. Studying the history of science showed him the value of organizations like AGU over the past century in connecting people to share ideas and advance science. (Recorded 10 December 2018)
