Born in a midsized southwestern town, I had an obscenely normal childhood, went to a state university, worked as a newspaper journalist for more than 25 years, and managed to get out before all hell broke loose. I am married to the love of my life, Jamie Showkeir, who is dying of ALS. We have four spectacular human beings we call children between us, two amazing grandchildren, and together we have raised Bodhi the Qat. We have authored two books together, and Jamie has been the partner I never dreamed I would have. I am a writer, editor and yogini, and I believe in the power of stories and their ability to elevate the human spirit. Namaste.
