Description

Paulette Terwilliger (nee Paulette Forst) was born to a young Jewish couple in France during the height of World War II. Now a resident of Fearrington Village, she spoke with fellow resident John Eckblad about her family’s wartime experience. In this excerpt from their conversation, she describes how her mother, with baby Paulette in tow, struggled to escape from Nazi-occupied Paris and seek safety in the free zone in southern France, after her father had been arrested and imprisoned in an internment camp.
