COVID in New York March 2020

When COVID 19 arrived in New York City, clinicians at hospitals in Manhattan collaborated on strategies for patient and staff safety as the pandemic challenged healthcare workers. These interviews with clinicians describe how leaders at the transplant hospitals in New York met via video conferencing three times a week to discuss practices that were working to keep patients safe. The use of telehealth became vital for assessing patients at home during this pandemic. In the hospital, clinicians developed safe units to prevent the spread of COVID. An interview with a transplant surgeon who contracted COVID and his recovery are also shared in an interview. Lessons learned from this pandemic are also discussed with several clinicians at NYU Langone Health Hospital in Manhattan.
