Description

My Dad was approaching his 80th Birthday and I was headed to my parents' house to take them to dinner to celebrate. When I say "celebrate", I don't mean to say that there was going to be a great deal of "hooplah". Dad isn't really a big fan of people making a fuss about this sort of thing. He's also not interested in acquiring material things just for the heck of it. This puts my brother and me in a position to try to find something that isn't material and doesn't make a big fuss. So, I thought I would take some time to tell my Dad what he's meant to me over the course of my life. However, I also knew it would feel awkward to do this face-to-face. Neither of us are really big on boldly expressing our emotions. That's not good, nor is it bad - It just is. So anyway, I decided to use the StoryCorps platform to record my thoughts and emotions as I reflect on my Dad's influence in my life. Dad, you have been and continue to be an incredible role model for me and I am incredibly glad that you are my father. I love you. Happy Birthday.
